วันก่อน “ลงทุนมัม” ได้เล่าให้เพื่อนๆฟังถึง ทักษะ Design Thinking หรือ กระบวนการคิดเชิงออกแบบ ซึ่งเป็นอีกทักษะสำคัญในยุคนี้ที่เราควรฝึกให้ลูกๆของเรา ทักษะนี้ไม่ได้ใช้สำหรับการออกแบบเท่านั้น แต่ยังสามารถนำมาใช้ในการดำเนินชีวิตได้อีกด้วย ชีวิตที่ออกแบบมาดีนั้น เป็นชีวิตที่เดินหน้าสร้างสรรค์อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพและเต็มไปด้วยโอกาสอยู่เสมอ ในปัจจุบันหลัก Design Thinking ได้รับการยอมรับอย่างกว้างขวาง บริษัทชั้นนำของโลกที่มีความโดดเด่นเรื่องนวัตกรรมอย่าง Apple, Google,Microsoft หรือแม้แต่ โคคา โคล่า ก็ยังใช้ Design Thinking มาใช้ในการสร้างผลิตภัณฑ์ใหม่และแก้ปัญหาต่างๆในองค์กรอยู่เสมอ ยิ่งไปกว่านั้น หลายๆประเทศที่มีระบบการศึกษาชั้นแนวหน้าของโลก ก็ได้เริ่มนำหลักการของ Design Thinking นี้มารวมอยู่ในหลักสูตรการศึกษาของเด็ก เพื่อพัฒนาเยาวชนผู้เป็นอนาคตของชาติด้วย เช่น ประเทศฟินแลนด์ สวีเดน และ ประเทศสิงคโปร์
เด็กที่มีกระบวนความคิดแบบ Design Thinking จะช่วยให้เด็กรู้จักวิธีการมองปัญหา วิเคราะห์และ แก้ไขปัญหา โดยไม่หวาดกลัวถึงความผิดพลาดที่จะเกิดขึ้น ซึ่งในปัจจุบัน ในประเทศไทยมี โรงเรียนนานาชาติ ที่ได้นำหลักการนี้มาใช้ในการเรียนการสอนให้กับลูกๆของเราแล้ว เรียกได้ว่าเป็นโรงเรียนนานาชาติ ที่มี Design Thinking ตั้งแต่ระดับ DNA ของโรงเรียนกันทีเดียว เพราะเป็นการนำหลัก กระบวนความคิดเชิงออกแบบ นี้มาใช้ตั้งแต่เริ่มการออกแบบหลักสูตรเลย ซึ่ง โรงเรียนที่ “ลงทุนมัม” พูดถึงนั้น ก็คือ VERSO International School นั่นเองค่ะ
โรงเรียนนานาชาติเวอร์โซ บนถนนบางนา-ตราด กำลังจะเปิดการศึกษาในเดือน สิงหาคม ปี 2020 นี้ โรงเรียนแห่งนี้ มีประวัติ เรื่องราวที่มาของการสร้างโรงเรียน และ การสร้างหลักสูตรการเรียนการสอนที่น่าสนใจและค่อนข้างเป็นเอกลักษณ์ ทีเดียวค่ะ
จุดเริ่มต้นของการสร้างโรงเรียน VERSO International School นี้ เกิดจาก ความร่วมมือกันของ บริษัท U City (บริษัทในเครือของ BTS) กับ Liang Family ครอบครัวผู้มีความเชี่ยวชาญทางด้านการศึกษาในฮ่องกง ซึ่งปัจจุบัน เป็นเจ้าของโรงเรียน St. Johannes College และ American International School ที่ฮ่องกง (โรงเรียนแห่งนี้ถือเป็นหนึ่งในโรงเรียนนานาชาติที่ดีที่สุดของฮ่องกงเลยนะคะ) จุดประสงค์ของการสร้างโรงเรียนแห่งนี้ คือ การสร้างโรงเรียนที่เป็นแหล่งการเรียนรู้แห่งอนาคต และพัฒนาศักยภาพของผู้เรียน เพื่อให้สามารถค้นพบตัวตน สร้างความมั่นใจ ตลอดจนส่งเสริมให้พวกเค้าได้มีทักษะและทัศนคติที่พร้อมรับมือกับการเปลี่ยนแปลงอย่างรวดเร็วของโลกอนาคตได้ โดยทางโรงเรียน ได้เชิญ Mr. Cameron Fox ผู้มีประสบการณ์ในแวดวงการศึกษาของฮ่องกงมานาน และเป็นอดีตครูใหญ่ที่ American International School ที่ฮ่องกงมาเป็น Founding Head ของโรงเรียนค่ะ
โรงเรียนนานาชาติเวอร์โซ ได้นำหลักการของ Design Thinking เข้ามามีบทบาทตั้งแต่ขั้นตอนการรับฟัง ความคิดเห็นจาก ผู้ปกครองของนักเรียนนานาชาติในหลากหลายประเทศ ทั้งในประเทศ สหรัฐอเมริกา สิงคโปร์ ฮ่องกง และ ประเทศไทย รวมไปถึงการไปสำรวจโรงเรียนที่ขึ้นชื่อว่าเป็น โรงเรียนแห่งนวัตกรรมในหลายๆประเทศทั่วโลก เพื่อนำตัวอย่างและแรงบันดาลใจจากโรงเรียนที่ดีที่สุด มาปรับใช้ให้เหมาะที่สุดกับสังคมไทย จนได้มาเป็นหลักสูตรการสอนของโรงเรียนที่เป็นเอกลักษณ์
นอกจากนี้ พื้นที่การเรียนรู้ต่างๆในโรงเรียน ไม่ว่าจะเป็น ห้องเรียน หรือ อาคารเรียน ยังถูกออกแบบมาเพื่อเสริมสร้างจินตนาการและความคิดสร้างสรรค์ของเด็กๆ และสามารถปรับเปลี่ยนให้เหมาะสมกับลักษณะการเรียนในรูปแบบต่างๆ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นการเรียนแบบกลุ่มหรือเดี่ยว (เช่นฉากกั้นห้องสามารถปรับเลื่อนได้เพื่อการจัดสรรพื้นที่การเรียนอันหลากหลาย) เรียกว่าใส่ใจทุกรายละเอียด ทุกตารางเมตรของโรงเรียนจริงๆค่ะ
หลักสูตรการเรียนการสอนของโรงเรียน ก็น่าสนใจทีเดียว โดยทางโรงเรียน ได้ร่วมมือกับ บริษัท IDEO (บริษัทออกแบบและนวัตกรรมระดับโลก จากประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา ซึ่งผู้ก่อตั้งบริษัทนี้ คือ Mr. David Kelley เป็น หนึ่งในผู้ก่อตั้ง Stanford D School ที่ “ลงทุนมัม” เคยกล่าวถึงในบทความก่อน เกี่ยวกับ Design Thinking) ในการออกแบบหลักสูตรขึ้นมา โดยมีโจทย์ว่า “เราจะออกแบบโรงเรียนนานาชาติที่สามารถเตรียมพร้อมนักเรียนของเราให้พร้อมรับกับโลกปัจจุบันที่เปลี่ยนแปลงไปอย่างรวดเร็วได้อย่างไร?”
คุณครูของที่นี่ จะเรียกว่า Learning Designer เพราะจะเป็นผู้ออกแบบการเรียนการสอนต่างๆให้กับเด็ก ซึ่งนอกจากการเรียนวิชาพื้นฐานที่สำคัญทั่วไปแล้ว Learning Designer จะนำทักษะแนวคิดแบบ Design Thinking มาฝึกให้เด็กๆได้ทดลองใช้ในทุกโปรเจคที่เรียน ซึ่งในระหว่างการทำโปรเจคนี้ เด็กๆจะได้ฝึกวิธีคิดและการแก้ปัญหาเชิงสร้างสรรค์ เรียกได้ว่า เด็กๆจะได้ซึมซับแนวคิดและทักษะ Design Thinking กันแบบเข้มข้นมากๆ เลยทีเดียว ทักษะนี้จะช่วยส่งเสริมให้เด็กมีวิธีคิดที่สร้างสรรค์ รู้จักตั้งคําถาม คิดวิเคราะห์ และการทำงานเป็นทีม รวมทั้งรู้จักการปรับเปลี่ยนวิธีแก้ไขปัญหาตามสถานการณ์ (หรือที่เราเรียกว่าการทำงานแบบ Agile) ซึ่งจะทำให้เด็กสามารถเชื่อมโยงการเรียนรู้จากทั้งภายในและภายนอกโรงเรียนเพื่อนำไปใช้ในชีวิตประจำวัน และ ต่อยอดการเรียนรู้ในอนาคตต่อไปได้ ซึ่งถือว่าเป็นทักษะพื้นฐานที่สำคัญสำหรับเด็กในยุคนี้เลยทีเดียวค่ะ
โดยทางโรงเรียนได้เฟ้นหา Learning Designer มากประสบการณ์จากหลากหลายประเทศทั่วโลก ซึ่งนอกจากจะต้องเป็นบุคลากรทางการศึกษาที่มีคุณภาพแล้ว จะต้องมีจิตวิญญาณ หรือ mindset ของนักออกแบบ และเข้าใจลักษณะการทำงานเป็นทีม เพื่อผลักดันและจุดประกายการเรียนรู้แบบสร้างสรรค์ในแบบฉบับของ โรงเรียนนานาชาติเวอร์โซ ได้อย่างแท้จริง

ตัวอย่างที่ “ลงทุนมัม” รู้สึก Wow มากๆ เรื่องหนึ่งก็คือ ตอนนี้ในยุคที่ผู้คนทั่วโลกกำลังประสบปัญหาการแพร่ระบาดของเชื้อไวรัส โควิด 19 และ เศรษฐกิจทั่วโลกกำลังหยุดชะงักโรงเรียนก็เอาหลักหัวใจของ Design Thinking นั่นก็คือ การรับฟังและเข้าใจถึงปัญหาที่ผู้ปกครองที่กำลังเผชิญอยู่ รวมถึงแรงบันดาลใจจากคำว่า “น้ำใจ” ซึ่งนับเป็นหนึ่งใน 5 หัวใจหลักแห่งการเรียนรู้ของ VERSO มาเป็นเจตนารมณ์ในการนำเสนอโปรแกรมเพื่อช่วยเหลือผู้ปกครองของนักเรียนที่เวอร์โซ โดย ทางโรงเรียนจะ Waive ค่าเรียนให้กับนักเรียนของ VERSO ในปีการศึกษานี้ (2020-2021) และ ลด 50% ในปีการศึกษาถัดไป (2021-2022) ซึ่งโปรแกรมนี้จะมอบให้แก่ ครอบครัวที่สมัครเข้าเรียนที่ โรงเรียนนานาชาติเวอร์โซ ทุกคนที่มีคุณสมบัติครบถ้วนตามเกณฑ์การสมัครเข้าเรียนที่ทางโรงเรียนได้ระบุไว้ ในระดับชั้น Early Years 2 ไปจนถึง Grade 8 ถึงแม้ว่าข้อเสนอดังกล่าวจะมีเพียงจำนวนจำกัด แต่ก็ถือว่าเป็นมิติใหม่ของโรงเรียนนานาชาติจริงๆเลยค่ะ
