Berkeley International School โรงเรียนนานาชาติหลักสูตร อเมริกัน ในย่านบางนา ที่ก่อตั้งมาตั้งแต่ปี 2010 ถ้านับถึงปัจจุบัน โรงเรียนเปิดการเรียนการสอนมาประมาณ 10 ปีแล้วค่ะ และมีนักเรียนระดับชั้นมัธยมปลาย (High School) ที่เริ่มจบการศึกษาไปแล้วตั้งแต่ปี 2017
โรงเรียนแห่งนี้ ถึงแม้จะเป็นโรงเรียนขนาดไม่ใหญ่มาก แต่โรงเรียนจะเน้นเรื่องความเป็นนานาชาติ โดยจะมีจำนวนนักเรียนต่างชาติกว่า 50% โดยมาจากนานาชาติกว่า 35 ประเทศทั่วโลก
ซึ่งในปัจจุบันต้องยอมรับว่า โรงเรียนนานาชาติหลายๆโรงเรียน นักเรียนไทยเยอะเกินนักเรียนต่างชาติไปมากในแต่ละห้องค่ะ ถ้าผู้ปกครองที่อยากให้ลูกได้อยู่แวดล้อมกับเพื่อนๆต่างชาติเยอะๆ อันนี้น่าจะเป็นหนึ่งในตัวเลือกที่ดีนะคะ
หลักสูตรการเรียนการสอนของโรงเรียนนั้นเป็นหลักสูตร อเมริกัน ที่ได้รับการรับรองมาตรฐานสากลจาก Western Association of Schools and Colleges หรือ WASC ซึ่งเป็นสถาบันรับรองมาตรฐานการศึกษาจากสหรัฐอเมริกา และ โรงเรียน เปิดรับนักเรียนตั้งแต่อายุ 2 ปี ไปจนถึง Grade 12 ค่ะ

หลักสูตร AP ที่ทางโรงเรียนมีให้เลือก มีดังนี้ค่ะ
- English Language Composition
- Micro Economics
- Physics
- Human Geography
ในด้านของตัวเลือกสำหรับ หลักสูตร AP ต้องยอมรับว่าที่ Berkeley International School นั้น มีตัวเลือกให้นักเรียนไม่มากเท่าโรงเรียนอื่นๆ เพราะโรงเรียนที่ “ลงทุนมัม” เคยรีวิวมา หลายๆ โรงเรียน มีวิชาของ AP ให้เลือกมากกว่านี้ค่ะ
แต่ทั้งนี้ทั้งนั้น ก็ขึ้นอยู่กับว่า ลูกๆของเราต้องการเรียน AP หรือไม่ จะไปศึกษาต่อที่ไหน และ ต้องลงเรียน AP วิชาอะไร อันนี้คงต้องศึกษาให้ละเอียด ตอนลูกๆ ใกล้จะเรียนในระดับมัธยมปลายอีกทีนะคะ
นอกเหนือจากด้านวิชาการแล้ว ทางด้านกีฬา ทางโรงเรียนก็ยังมี Facility ต่างๆให้นักเรียนได้ใช้กันอย่างมากมาย ทั้ง สนามฟุตบอลกลางแจ้ง สระว่ายน้ำขนาดโอลิมปิค และ สนามกีฬาในร่ม เรียกได้ว่า นักเรียนจะได้ balance ทั้งด้านการเรียนและกีฬาไปพร้อมๆกันค่ะ

สำหรับค่าใช้จ่ายของโรงเรียนนานาชาติเบิร์คลีย์ รายละเอียดค่าเทอม สำหรับปี 2019-2020 สามารถดูได้จาก เวปไซต์โรงเรียน <https://www.berkeley.ac.th/tuition-and-fees-2019-20> ค่ะ “ลงทุนมัม” คำนวณโดยประมาณไว้ว่า ค่าเทอม จะมีการเพิ่มขึ้น 3% ทุกปี (ซึ่งปกติ ค่าเล่าเรียนของโรงเรียนนานาชาติ จะมีการปรับขึ้นทุกปีอยู่แล้ว เป็น % บางโรงเรียน อาจจะ 3% บางโรงเรียนอาจจะ 5% แล้วแต่โรงเรียนเลยค่ะ)

“ลงทุนมัม” ลองจิ้มตัวเลขให้แม่ๆดูแล้ว ถ้าส่งลูกเรียน ตั้งแต่ชั้น K1 ถึง Grade 12 เราจะต้องเตรียมเงินไว้ประมาณ 12,994,673 บาท หรือเทียบเท่าซื้อรถ Toyota Camry ได้ 8.3 คันค่ะ
